Magic Ice Bar Bergen — Friendly Visitor Guide with Prices, Drinks & Tips

For a unique night out in Bergen step into the Magic Ice Bar — an icy world where everything from the chairs to the cocktail glasses is carved from ice. Cloaks and gloves are included so you can relax and enjoy this sub-zero attraction even in the middle of summer.

Location & how to get there

The Magic Ice Bar Bergen is located on the opposite side of the harbour from Bryggen. From the Fish Market area it’s an easy 10–15 minute walk. The official what3words address is drops.trumpet.support which helps you find the exact spot.

Tickets & prices

We paid NOK 770 (around £52) for two people. This included entrance (with unlimited time inside) and two drinks per person. Considering the novelty of the place and the included cocktails it felt like a fair price for a one-of-a-kind evening experience.

We paid NOK 770 (circa £52) for 2 and this covered entrance (unlimited time) and first 2 drinks (cocktails). As one of those 'I've always wanted to do this' for my wife it was a good way to spend an hour before finishing for the night.

What to expect inside the Magic Ice Bar

Even in summer the bar is kept below zero. Before entering you’re given a thick warm cloak and gloves. Step inside and you’ll find:

  • Ice-carved tables and chairs (covered with fur throws for comfort)
  • Walls and sculptures made entirely from ice
  • Lighting effects that add to the cool atmosphere
  • A friendly bar team serving cocktails in ice glasses

It feels more like stepping into an art gallery freezer than a normal pub — and that’s the fun of it.

Drinks & cocktails

The first included drink is usually a signature cocktail — ours tasted like a traditional Norwegian mix though the exact recipe was a mystery. The second drink is a choice from the regular bar menu. All drinks come served in solid ice glasses, which adds to the novelty.

Tips for visiting the Magic Ice Bar

Make it part of your evening

It pairs well with dinner nearby — we visited after eating at FishMe then enjoyed a walk along the harbour to the bar.

Plan for about an hour

You can technically stay as long as you like but most visitors find 45–60 minutes plenty of time for drinks photos and soaking up the icy atmosphere.

Dress for the cold

The provided cloaks keep you warm but wearing proper shoes and layers makes the visit more comfortable.

Photo opportunities

Bring your camera or phone — the lighting and ice carvings make for striking photos especially at the ice tables.
